My morning ritual: collagen, lemon, salt - and a moment to reset
Mornings used to feel rushed for me. Straight into coffee, straight into emails, straight into the day. And while that worked for a while, I started to notice I was always playing catch-up - with my energy, my focus, even how I felt in my body.
So I changed one small thing. Before anything else, I created a simple ritual. Something grounding. Something supportive. Something that felt like I was giving to my body, not just asking from it.
And it starts with a glass of water.
My collagen ritual (and why I do it this way)
Every morning, I mix:
• Cold water
• A serving of Collagen Tribe tripeptide collagen
• A generous squeeze of fresh lemon
• A pinch of Celtic sea salt
That’s it. Nothing complicated. But the intention behind it is everything.
After a full night’s sleep, your body is naturally dehydrated. You’ve gone hours without fluids, minerals, or nourishment. So rather than shocking your system with caffeine, this is about rehydrating, replenishing, and gently waking everything up.
It’s less of a “drink” and more of a reset.
Why I add lemon
Lemon is one of those simple ingredients that does so much quietly in the background.
First, it supports digestion. That little sharpness helps stimulate digestive juices, which is exactly what your body needs first thing in the morning.
It also brings a small amount of natural vitamin C, along with trace plant compounds that just feel… alive. Fresh. Clean.
And honestly, it makes the whole ritual feel more intentional. More like a moment of care than just another supplement.
Why I add Celtic sea salt
This is the part people often question - but it’s the piece I would never skip.
Celtic sea salt is rich in trace minerals, and after sleeping (and sweating, even lightly, overnight), your body benefits from replenishing those minerals.
Adding a pinch to water creates a very gentle, natural electrolyte effect - supporting hydration at a deeper level.
Not in a sugary sports drink way but in a cellular, nourishing way.
For me, it’s the difference between just drinking water… and actually feeling hydrated.
It also has this subtle effect of helping me feel more awake - clearer, more switched on - without any stimulation.
And then, the collagen
This is where Collagen Tribe comes in.
I take my collagen as tripeptides, which means it’s already broken down into the smallest, most bioavailable form. It doesn’t need the same level of digestion as standard hydrolysed collagen - your body can recognise and use collagen tripeptides far more efficiently.
So rather than just taking collagen, you’re actually giving your body something it can work with almost immediately.
And that, to me, changes everything.
Do you need vitamin C with collagen?
This is probably the biggest question I get asked.
You’ll often hear that you must take vitamin C with collagen for it to “work.” And yes - vitamin C does play a role in collagen formation in the body.
But here’s the more balanced, honest perspective.
If you’re eating a varied, whole-food diet - with fruits, vegetables, fresh ingredients - you’re very likely already getting enough vitamin C to support this process.
It doesn’t need to be forced into your collagen product.
And when you’re taking collagen in its tripeptide form, where absorption is already optimised, that urgency becomes even less relevant.
When vitamin C might be helpful
That said, there are times when extra support can make sense. Being more intentional about vitamin C can be helpful…
• If your diet is lacking in fresh foods.
• If you’re under stress.
• If your immune system feels run down.
In those cases, I always prefer to start with food - citrus fruits, berries, leafy greens.
But if you are supplementing, I personally lean towards liposomal vitamin C.
Why liposomal vitamin C?
Liposomal simply means the vitamin C is encapsulated in tiny lipid (fat-like) particles, which helps it pass through the digestive system more efficiently and be better absorbed by the body.
In simple terms, you’re actually getting more of what you’re taking.
So, if you’re going to supplement, it makes sense to choose a form your body can really utilise.
A small ritual, a big shift
This morning drink isn’t about perfection. It’s not about doing everything “right.”
It’s about creating a moment that supports you - before the noise of the day begins.
Hydration. Minerals. Collagen your body can actually use.
A breath. A pause.
And then… everything else.
This is how I start my day. It’s one of the simplest things I’ve done and it’s made the biggest difference.
