Hi Chloe here!
I get asked this all the time: “How do you actually use collagen in real life?”
Not the perfect, Pinterest-morning version — but the real, sometimes-chaotic, always-human routine. So I thought I’d pull back the curtain and share how I use collagen day-to-day.
If you’re part of the Collagen Tribe, this is basically a voice note from me to you 💛
My morning: where collagen really earns its place
I’m a big believer that what you do most days matters more than what you do perfectly. My mornings are fairly consistent, even if the rest of the day goes sideways.
1. Collagen comes first (before coffee ☕️)
Before I touch caffeine, I take my collagen - that's non-negotiable for me.
Why?
- It’s easy on an empty stomach
- I don’t forget it!
- It sets an ‘I’ve done something good for myself’ tone for the day
I have it simply with water, and then give it 10–15 minutes before coffee. I feel that little pause matters – that it helps with absorption and keeps collagen from competing with everything else going on in digestion.
Most mornings I add:
- A good squeeze of lemon (vitamin C is collagen’s best friend)
- A pinch of sea salt — I almost treat it like a gentle electrolyte
I find this is the best way to wake my body up first thing - rehydrating, mineral-rich, and grounding before the day really starts. Nothing fancy. Just consistent.
2. Coffee… but smarter
I love coffee. I’m not giving it up. Ever! But I am a bit more intentional with it. I try to:
- Delay drinking coffee until slightly after waking
- Avoid drinking coffee on a completely empty system
- Choose clean, mould-free coffee brands where possible
I’m a big fan of Exhale Coffee — it feels noticeably gentler on my system.
If I’m feeling wired or anxious, I’ll support myself with a stress + anxiety formulation I’m currently working on (and testing on myself). More on that soon. Mood and hormones always win over caffeine flexing.
3. Calm starts to my days
I also use one of the Lumie 'wake up' lights, which means I wake up to a natural light in the bedroom. It makes such a difference on darker mornings and helps me start the day feeling calmer and more regulated.
Evening routine: keeping it simple
To be honest, I love getting into a good box set in the evening.
Low lights, magnesium (we've got a really great magnesium that I know you’ll absolutely love), and trying to put my phone away earlier than I’d like to admit.
This year, I’m also going to experiment with not having my phone in the bedroom at all - wish me luck.
That's my routine - easy and straightforward
Nothing rigid. Nothing perfect. Just small supports that make life feel easier.
Progress, not perfection.
